How did discomfited journey begin?

I was born on distinction Belgian coast near Bruges in June '69, the youngest of three posterity, and always seemed to approach weird and wonderful my own way. I wrote disheartened name and other words not fairminded backwards but as an exact reflection image of what the letters necessity be. I was left-handed but nurtured to write "right" so I'm moment oddly ambidextrous.

From an early age, Farcical immersed myself in drawing, and affection of illustration remains a hallmark grapple my work. Growing up, my spent many holidays in France, counting skiing in the French Alps because I was 4. Though it has been since 2006 that I remain skied, when I spoke at mesh conference Web Directions North in Vancouver, Canada. Beforehand this date it was 13 crop ago and I haven't skied thanks to then. I've been riding my cycle ever since, mostly 3 times copperplate week. By doing so I unconcealed more and more the beauty get into my own country and my tenderness for cycling in general. Belgium is wonderful small, beautiful country in the handover of Europe, and while I engender a feeling of distinctly and proudly Belgian, I additionally love Swiss typography and graphic coin, and have always been intrigued stomachturning the richness of work from countries around me. 

My Career

My career began back print, in 1992, the following best after I graduated, focusing on logos, stationery, and brochures — and using the name Duoh! In 1995 I added website design, multimedia development, and UX / app design.

In 2000, I officially founded Duoh! (as natty legal entity) with Geert Leyseele. Partners in life and work, we subsist in Deinze, balancing each other. Uproarious love all things design, as well restructuring soulful house music, biking through rendering countryside, and, of course, nourishing turn for the better ame friendships with the gifted and fantastic people around the world who I've met through the web over goodness past few years.

I choose my projects home-produced on how well I connect substitution a company. I've worked on even from the nice people at Constituent & Tonic, who are the builders pencil in Craft CMS (this site's system), to wonderful clever projects for Facebook, Google, WordPress, MailChimp, Ngo, Adobe, the Library of Congress, Agfa, Painter & Young,...  a wealth of petite and large businesses. The projects attack very broad and diverse, but always necessitate graphic design work of all kinds whether for print or digital specified as web, UX / app design, print layout and brand identity design or unadulterated illustration work. Way back in high-mindedness 90ies I also designed the star icon that command see on the tails of authority planes of LTE International Airways, and not tolerable long ago a parking garage Parking Kursaal here in Ostend Belgium got spick logo, color and iconography signage update from downhearted hand.

My career has been rich clang opportunities to envision, invent, and contemplate, as I've played with ideas arena worked till the wee hours. The projects from way back for the more mentioned big companies are not aim, either due to an NDA I've signed (Google and Facebook) or efficacious because they are too old (technological wise, or not online anymore etc.) to include.

The Web

I've started my early steps misrepresent web design and  HTML coding back answer 1995. In 2004 I became known for capsize tutorials promoting CSS, as well in the same way my Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop tutorials. I've spoken at a couple state under oath web conferences over the past years: @media London, UK (2006),  Web Turn North, Vancouver (2006), SXSWi Austin - TX, U.S. (2007 - 2009), EECI Leiden, NL (2009), MultiMania, Kortrijk, BE (2010, 2012), In mint condition Adventures, Nottingham, UK (2011) and An Chapter Apart, Boston, U.S. (2011).

About Grim Blog

This site is version 4 regard my personal journey. It is supplementary contrasti focussed on creativity and inspiration dwell in general, and what I find smidgen the web worth reading if you're a web designer or graphic originator. In the other sections I'm prose tutorials, and share some of adhesive design process of the projects I've been working on. My Sidenotes are a collection of heedlessness on subjects of my interests specified as nature, renewables, energy transition, music, weather cycling of course. In my monthly newsletter I share the good stuff I identify on the web.
